Return to Insight Return to News A LoRa Multi-Hop solution for agriculture This constraint resulted in limitation of the number of probes per exploitation, because of: 1.  the absence of a reliable network coverage at the probe location,  2.  the additional costs induced by the need to connect each probe to a gateway (external box, cable & connectors, cellular modem & SIM card subscription).   Limiting the number of probes for reasons external to the desired goal (i.e. measuring soil moisture at a precise and useful location) limits the accuracy of the system.   With ORAMA-Net modem inside its Hydrascout probe,HSTI improves its range by opening the way to a more precise measurement that is less costly to implement.   ORAMA-Net removes the limitations that were previously imposed on this use case: 1.  the probes organize themselves automatically to form aprivate network that can cover a radius of up to 9km(i.e., 25,000 hectares) 2.  Network just needs a single gateway in a location where safety & connectivity are ensured, whether via Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 4G, and if necessary, a single cellular subscription instead of N for N probes.   By “connecting deep all”, #LoRa Multi-Hop ORAMA-Net brings new opportunities to HSTI. Sensor communication can be compromised in certain contexts, such as underground activities. This requires strengthening the radio infrastructure, by adding antennas, relays and energy supply cables, which has the effect of complicating the deployment and maintenance of the solution and increasing costs. ORAMA-Net Lite-Grid Multi-Hop technology stabilizes data exchanges between underground activities and local or remote business applications. Because by communicating with each other, step by step and autonomously, all the objects on the site constitute the network, over several kilometers of online gallery and several thousand hectares of cavities if necessary. In cellars, temperature sensors equipped with the ON-Node software stack communicate with other hygrometry, presence and light sensors, in order to control the critical quality and hygiene factors . In tunnels under construction or in operation, vibration sensors communicate with air quality sensors, geolocation beacons of crew members and preventive maintenance instruments for machines and equipment. Each connected object propagates uplink data and downlink instructions while avoiding obstacles, from the very low consumption ON-spot micro-station and its remote active antenna. ORAMA-System makes two offers available to professionals in underground activities, in order to test ORAMA-Net technology, in the field as part of a tailor-made pilot project, or else in the laboratory using an evaluation kit.
